Attraction in Spain - The Alhambra

The Alhambra is a huge complex of palaces, fortress and regulations section of the Moorish kings of Granada built. The outer walls are built of red brick and the name of the complex is probably the word 'red' in Arabic. Built in 1238-1358 on a plateau overlooking the city of Granada, is strategically positioned to protect one of the most important cities in Moorish Spain.

A shelter

The Alhambra was a place of refuge for many intellectuals and artists They were fleeing from the Christian Reconquista. He has also contributed to the beautification of the complex since its mid-craftsmen were many Arabs, Christians and Jews. Today their legacy can still be seen preserved in the fountains, gardens and other beauty items.

The Alhambra Dismantled

After the Reconquista in 1492, the interior with more furniture and decorations destroyed or erased. Part of the complex was destroyed to build a> Palace of the King of Spain, and during the Spanish war of independence from France, several towers were destroyed. The earthquake of 1821 did much damage to buildings. Restoration started a little 'later and took more than a century.

Structure

The citadel or castle complex is part of the Alcazaba. Intended as a weekend for the king during the hotSummer in Madrid, the Alhambra Palace Generalife was both a safe and enjoyable. Today, a theater built in the palace, the scene of music and dance repertoire.

The Patio de Los Leones

The Court of Lions and the Patio de Los Leones is another interesting place to visit. There is a courtyard surrounded by pavilions with the Fountain of the Lions in the middle. Twelve marble lions supporting a pool of alabaster. The bottom of theFarm is also expensive, with colored marble tiles, the walls have the same eye-catching blue and yellow tiles that reflect the white marble of the fountain of the Lions.
